Ready for the Summer Rush

      After the excitement of the two Monarchs born, June has settled into its historical pattern of slow times punctuated by days of intense activity. But with the weather reliably warm, and the flowers busting out all over, we expect that each new day will bring more and more visitors. 
     Our best day was mid-June, when our only other Monarch visited. A male, he spent a good part of the day feeding before continuing north. 

     A rare and special visitor also came flying in at that same time, a Zebra Swallowtail. He was just passing through, alas, allowing only this Bigfoot style photo (please be sure to visit the souvenir shop on your way out!) to be taken. 

     Generally, we are still getting only a few visitors a day, but they have included the Spicebush Swallowtail, the Aphrodite Fritillary, the Snowberry Clearwing sphinx moth, the Cabbage White, and some of our skipper friends. The Summer Azure was a tiny delight on the daisies.  

     We are looking forward to July!
